{"id":94713,"date":"2020-11-20T01:49:14","date_gmt":"2020-11-20T09:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/?p=94713"},"modified":"2020-11-20T03:38:20","modified_gmt":"2020-11-20T11:38:20","slug":"uffo-aka-unified-fast-file-and-object","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/it\/purely-technical\/uffo-aka-unified-fast-file-and-object\/","title":{"rendered":"UFFO (aka Unified Fast File and Object): una nuova categoria storage per estrarre il massimo valore dai dati"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/products\/unified-fast-file-object-storage\/\"><em>Unified fast file and object<\/em><\/a> \u00e8 una <strong>nuova categoria storage<\/strong> che include, in un\u2019unica piattaforma, accesso applicativo ai dati non strutturati, sia attraverso protocolli File che Object.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Fino a questo momento gli storage <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Network_Attached_Storage\">NAS<\/a> sono stati prevalentemente utilizzati in ambito <strong>file<\/strong> <strong>sharing<\/strong>, oppure con accesso applicativo dedicato sulla componente <strong>NFS<\/strong>, soprattutto da parte di utenti che avevano pi\u00f9 dimestichezza con la componente network rispetto, ad esempio, all\u2019infrastrutture basate su fibre channel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">In questo contesto le <strong>performance<\/strong> erano un valore importante dato che molti client accedevano in modo concorrente ai dati, ma le scalabilit\u00e0 erano relativamente limitate, da qualche decina a poche centinaia di TB.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Contrariamente gli <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Object_storage\">object storage<\/a> sono sempre stati considerati elementi di <strong>archiviazione<\/strong>, addirittura dispositivi <strong>WORM<\/strong> (write once, read many). In questo contesto invece le performance non erano un requisito significativo; lo era invece una richiesta di <strong>scalabilit\u00e0<\/strong> importante, nell\u2019ordine dei Petabyte, dove il valore dei protocolli ad oggetto erano evidenti proprio nell\u2019utilizzare lo storage <strong>come un \u201cbuco nero\u201c<\/strong> dove depositare i dati, senza curarsi minimamente della costruzione di volumi o file system, presupponendo addirittura una scalabilit\u00e0 praticamente infinita.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>I requisiti applicativi guidano l&#8217;infrastruttura<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\">Oggi giorno invece molte <strong>applicazioni necessitano di un accesso ai dati<\/strong> non strutturati sia attraverso protocolli file che attraverso protocolli oggetto. In particolare le applicazioni <strong>a micro-servizi<\/strong> necessitano del meglio dei due mondi, garantendo le <strong>scalabilit\u00e0<\/strong> tipiche degli ambienti ad oggetti, ma con le <strong>performance<\/strong> richieste dagli ambienti basati su file.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Questa nuova categoria, introdotta da Pure Storage, \u00e8 stata \u201ccertificato\u201c da <strong>IDC<\/strong> nel Paper di luglio 2020 dal titolo \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/getdoc.jsp?containerId=US46643220\">Pure Storage introduces a new Unified Fast File and Object market category at its accelerate user conference<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Gi\u00e0 precedentemente, a giugno 2020, <strong>IDC<\/strong> presentava un articolo dal titolo: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/getdoc.jsp?containerId=US45992520\">Worldwide File and Object based Storage Forecast 2020-2024<\/a>\u201d in cui spiegava la sua visione sull\u2019evoluzione del contesto infrastrutturale dedicato a questa tipologia di ambienti.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-94714 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/uffo-728x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/uffo-728x300.png 728w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/uffo-1400x577.png 1400w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/uffo-768x316.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/uffo-1536x633.png 1536w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/uffo-150x62.png 150w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/uffo.png 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">\u00c8 importante quindi notare come l\u2019<strong>accesso contemporaneo tramite questi protocolli<\/strong> sia diventato ormai critico per molte applicazioni presenti sul mercato, in particolare per tutte le applicazioni di nuova generazione, basate su container, i cui micro-servizi necessitano di leggere e scrivere dati tramite protocolli diversi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Poter beneficiare quindi di un\u2019architettura che permetta una <strong>scalabilit\u00e0<\/strong> praticamente <strong>indefinita<\/strong>, <strong>senza<\/strong> <strong>complicazioni<\/strong> di gestione, e che disponga appunto di un accesso al protocollo multiplo, rende possibile un alto livello di servizio applicativo e una trasparenza infrastrutturale che toglie ogni possibile complicazione di gestione, a favore di una concentrazione sempre pi\u00f9 spinta da parte degli amministratori sul contesto applicativo.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-94719 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-728x260.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"260\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-728x260.png 728w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-1400x500.png 1400w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-768x274.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-1536x549.png 1536w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-150x54.png 150w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled.png 1998w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Un esempio significativo \u00e8 l\u2019<strong>analisi del sentiment degli utenti sui social network<\/strong>. Molte aziende ormai ricevono i dati pi\u00f9 utili dal punto di vista della profilazione utente direttamente dai like e dai commenti presenti sui propri social network.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Sentiment Analysis: uno use case tipicamente UFFO<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\">Consideriamo ad esempio l\u2019analisi delle reazioni degli utenti a fronte di un tweet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Per poter eseguire quest\u2019analisi \u00e8 necessario fare l\u2019ingestion dei tweet dalla piattaforma Twitter tramite le API messe a disposizione, filtrarli opportunamente ed eseguire la sentiment analysis per poi poter visualizzare le statistiche (quanti like, quanti commenti positivi, quanti commenti negativi eccetera) e ricavare delle informazioni utili per il business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Per questo tipo di analisi spesso vengono usati <strong>Apache<\/strong> <strong>Kafka<\/strong> e <strong>Spark<\/strong>, che devono poter utilizzare un interfacciamento ad oggetti per l\u2019ingestion dei contenuti, ma anche utilizzare delle share NAS ad altissime performance per poter processare i dati e produrre risultati il pi\u00f9 velocemente possibile.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-94724 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-2-728x364.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"364\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-2-728x364.png 728w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-2-1400x700.png 1400w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-2-768x384.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-2-1536x768.png 1536w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-2-150x75.png 150w, https:\/\/blog.everpuredata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Untitled-2.png 1812w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><strong>Pure Storage<\/strong> indirizza perfettamente questa necessit\u00e0 con la piattaforma <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purestorage.com\/it\/products\/file-and-object\/flashblade.html\"><strong>FlashBlade<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><strong>FlashBlade<\/strong> \u00e8 la perfetta incarnazione della filosofia <strong>UFFO<\/strong> (Unified Fast File and Object) in quanto permette un accesso al dato mediante protocolli multipli, <strong>senza<\/strong> evidenti <strong>limiti<\/strong> <strong>di<\/strong> <strong>scalabilit\u00e0<\/strong> <strong>e performance<\/strong>, rendendo possibili analytics praticamente in tempo reale. Le alte performance e la scalabilit\u00e0 ci permettono di poter indirizzare tipologie applicative anche molto diverse: <strong>image indexing, EDA Workflow , ML\/DL<\/strong>.
