What Are Pure1 Edge Services?
Part of the Pure1 Edge Platform, Pure1 Edge Services are focused specifically on enabling secure, cloud-initiated management operations, like self-service software upgrades. To function, the service uses lightweight agents that you install when you’re ready. These agents:
- Form a thin communication layer between the Pure1 Cloud and your arrays
- Allow only specific, approved tasks to be executed by your systems
- Have no access to your data or control beyond what’s needed for the service
- Run in isolated containers
- Don’t require root access
- Stay idle (keep-alive pings) until you kick off a task
- Relay cloud-initiated commands securely to the Purity OS for execution
- Connect through the secure HTTPS channel established by the Pure1 Edge Platform
Note: PES is just one part of the broader Pure1 Edge Platform. Other capabilities, like AI-driven insights and analytics data collection, are provided by other components of the platform, not PES alone.
You choose when to enable Pure1 Edge Services on your appliances, and you’re never locked in. Agents are installed and removed on your terms. Pure1 Edge Services can be enabled or disabled on any system at any time. They’re designed to work around how you want to manage your environment.
